Brendan's Senior Trip: Heading to Texas

Friday & Saturday - Day 1 & 2 of our trip
Ever since JC & I took our cruise 9.5 years ago, Bren and I have talked of taking a family cruise.  We saved and scrimped and planned so that we could go "cruising" for Bren's Senior Trip/(Early) Graduation Gift.  We invited my family and Granny and PawPaw to join us.  Once Christmas was over, the departure date came flying at us.
All packed and ready to go!  We had 4 suitcases plus a garment bag, 2 tote bags and 3 backpacks.  Here's to hoping we didn't forget anything important!  We had plans to leave on Saturday the 11th and make the LONG day trip down to Galveston, TX but JC managed to get off work early on Friday and the grandparents were here so we loaded up and headed out.
Our first half of the drive went fairly smooth.  We made it to Corsicana, TX sometime around 9 p.m. and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.  After sleep and breakfast, we got back on the road, excited to make it to Galveston.
We stopped to stretch and visit Mr. Sam Houston before finishing our 2nd day's journey.  Houston traffic was a nightmare and part of I-45 was closed.  We took the detour and grabbed Subway for a late lunch.  We FINALLY made it to our hotel (with free parking for the week).  We checked in and headed across the street to the beach!  The water was COLD but it was a beautiful day to see the ocean!

We had a very nice dinner with Uncle Benny and Barbara and visited with them back at the hotel for awhile.
We had a great corner view from our hotel rooms.  After breakfast on Sunday, we ran to the grocery store and got ready to head to the port.  There it is!!! Our adventure has just begun!

All in all, it was a good trip to Galveston! Super special being together. It was a huge gift getting to spend time with Uncle Benny and Barbara. Thought the Galves hotel was in "the" perfect spot, plus the rooms!
