Sunday - Day 3 of our trip
We checked out of our Galveston hotel around 11 and caravan-ed to the Port of Galveston where our ship, the Carnival Magic, sat waiting for us. The menfolk dropped us off, took the vehicles back to the hotel for the free parking and got a cab back to the port. We handed over all the suitcases to a porter so that we wouldn't have to try lugging them around. There were 21 people in our "party" and everyone drove except my sister Laura and her son. We waited outside for her flight to arrive.
Bren helped occupy his younger cousins and Lily kicked back to play on my tablet (which she has nicknamed the "Owl") with her grandmothers.
The embarkation process was a bit exhausting. Getting through customs and Carnival's check-in wasn't too bad but then we had to wait awhile until our number was called so that we could board the ship. The only breakdown in our family was one little incident with Lily. She was not happy about going through the metal detector.

We checked into our cabins and did a quick unpack. The rooms are pretty small and all of our luggage took up most of the room! We were blessed with an ocean view! We then went to the Lido deck to watch us set sail. It was breezy and cool but we were all excited!
Heading to our room to get ready for dinner, we ran into the Illusionist by the elevators. He was making balloons for kids so we waited to get some made.
Food. One thing you can say about cruising. There is plenty of good food ALWAYS available. I don't think we had one meal in the dining room that wasn't delicious! We did have some buffet meals that were only so-so but overall everything was yummy!
Another Carnival experience is their towel animals. The kids LOVED finding these each night.
