Our family vacation began on the 13th. We got on the road just after 10 a.m. and headed to Waco, TX. We found a great buy on a car top carrier for our trip so the van wasn't loaded down.
We made it almost to the border and stopped at Robertson's for ham and turkey sandwiches. After lunch, the girls napped the rest of the Day 1 drive.
We rented this cute little cabin for our first night. It was right on Lake Waco, by the marina. There is only two cabins; it was quiet and a bit rustic.
There was a bedroom with a queen, a loft (with very low ceilings!) and a futon. All the kids were happy to be out of the van!
We walked to the marina's floating restaurant for dinner. It was beautiful but a bit windy.
Dinner was pretty good. I think the fresh air helped!

I think the kids loved being with the wild the most! We had a golden orb on the stairs outside, this lovely scorpion inside (thankfully we found him as we were leaving!) and a turtle.
Waco was a perfect start to our vacation!
Day 2 we ate at
Collin Street Bakery for lunch. We always try to eat at non-local restaurants while vacationing. Then we were off to San Antonio. We arrived in the late afternoon and the kids took a quick bath before dinner.
Our rooms were nice and comfy and the tub was big! We met up with family for the Zaring-Seagraves Family Reunion and ate burgers and hot dogs at the Villa's picnic tables.
After dinner the kids played at the playground
(which was all sand) so another quick bath before bed!
Day 3:
Natural Bridge Caverns, decked out in our family reunion shirts. Cam made quick friends with extended family!
The caves were beautiful! It was a long trek through them but we had a good time. Surprisingly, the caves were much warmer than the caves we went to in Branson.
Lily didn't want to be in the carrier so daddy carried her through the caverns.
When we were done with the caverns, the kids and JC, along with other family members did a ropes course.

Lily enjoying playing back at the villa. It was a long day! Then dinner at the Alamo Cafe. I tried their famous puffy tacos, minus cheese, of course!
Before the Alamo the next day, I got to enjoy my coffee on the porch with JC & the girls. It was a beautiful morning.
The grounds of the Alamo were so beautiful. JC & Cam read lots of history and enjoyed touring the buildings.

This is what Lily thought about the River Walk so we grabbed pizza and headed back for naps.
That evening, lots of family picked up dinner and joined us at our villa for an evening of fun. Bren disappeared when it got too noisy and went to watch a movie with Gramma and Papa next door.
It was a great time having everyone together in a relaxed atmosphere.
When time came to leave, we stopped by Ikea in Round Rock and ate at Chuy's Mexican. Then we got a cabin at Jellystone Park in Burleson.
Our cabin was cute but the park was lacking. All the activities they boasted of weren't going on so all we had to do was play at the park.
We got on the inflatables but then we were told they weren't open yet. At least the kids got a quick run through.
The ride home was long but we tried to make the best of it. I'd made travel games and wrapped presents to get throughout the drive.
It was a great vacation but we were glad to be back home.
