Iron Thistle Scottish Festival

Yesterday we had a surprise adventure to a local Scottish festival.  We were surprised because it was really well done and didn't cost an arm & a leg!  The had lots of fun, free things for the kids.  We got to pet this Scottish cow and watch dogs herd sheep.

We got to do crafts and ride a little train.  We heard great music, ate some snacks and watched some Scottish games.
It was a hot afternoon but the park had lots of shade.  I think we'll try to go back!

Rattlesnake Festival

Saturday we got on the road for another family (minus Bren) adventure, the Rattlesnake Festival. All three kids wanted to get their picture with the snake. I think Cam was the only one brave enough to hold it.  I think he enjoyed it!
Lily & Cait braved the kiddie roller coaster and then all of them went in this farm-maze type obstacle course.  This was Cait's favorite part.
Cam & his cousin rode the Tornado!  We were a little worried since Cam has experienced some motion sickness in the pass but he did great and said this was his favorite part!
The girls, Granny and I rode a Teddy Bear tilt-a-whirl and then Cam, JC & cousin rode the bumper cars.

We watched the "fancy dancers", ate some yummy fair food and the kids road the ponies.  This was Lily's favorite part.

They have never ridden horses before so this was really fun for them.
We came home tired and a little sunburned but it was great fun!  If we go again next year, we will have to hunt down the rest of the rattlesnakes!  And wear sunscreen!

Just doing life

The year is passing quickly. Life passes by and children grow up. Some days seem long but the days disappear.

The kids enjoy "camping out" together most Friday nights.  And here a picture of the big boy.  He works a lot these days and we don't see him too often.  We try to enjoy the time we do have him home.
Grampa P & Lily dancing after Lily finally warmed up to him during their recent visit.
Donut outing as a treat for potty training.  Everyone made a deposit at the bank and they each got little trinkets.  They had fun watching the coin counter and picking out their treats.

And we ended our week with grilled burgers, Braums ice cream and Big Hero 6.  I ♥ our family time!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

As long as I can remember, we have enjoyed an annual St. Patrick's feast in Lawton.  It is always a fun time for our family.  This year we stayed for the whole weekend.  After church, we climbed around on Mt. Scott.  Even Lily was a brave little girl to climb about!
Cait & Lily singing for us and the kids sang at church.  Cait helped me make rainbow cupcakes, too!
And we finished it off with dinner out.  I don't know this guy. Do you??? :)

Spring

Genesis 1:12 ~ The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
I love the renewal of spring. Life returns to the world around us. Flowers and birds are every where.
Song of Solomon 2:12 ~ Spring flowers are in blossom all over. The whole world's a choir - and singing! Spring warblers are filling the forest with sweet arpeggios. 13 Lilacs are exuberantly purple and perfumed, and cherry trees fragrant with blossoms.

Outdoor play resumes.  Here was a lunch date with daddy at the park and wading at a nearby lake.
And, the celebration of what gives us all life - the Resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.
