Camp Doris

Last year, it was cold. This year, we got sun burns. We had hot days (80s), cool evenings and chilly nights. Really, it was near perfect weather to camp for Brendan's 15th birthday.

The kids and I, with Granny's help, set up camp Friday morning. A good thing too because Doris (Wichita Wildlife Refuge's campsite) was full by evening. We were joined by family and had a total of 5 tents up by dark.

Saturday morning, Uncle Mike, my dad and Brendan went to Mt. Scott to set up ropes for rock climbing. The picture below, right, is of what we all climbed down. Ten adults, one teen, two 4 year olds, two toddlers and baby Cait.

Cameron & Isabella even got in on the climbing this time. THANKS, Uncle Mike. You made Cameron's day!

It was a beautiful day, albeit a little warm, to be up on Mt. Scott.

The little ones had fun playing in and around all the rocks and boulders. Here's a shot of daddy climbing up.

And Cait hanging out with Gramma.

Back at the camp ground that evening, we had a family dinner

and then celebrated Brendan's birthday.

Bella, Cameron, Taelyn and Jackson loved playing outside for 2 days. Cait did pretty good, for a nearly 4 month old.

Sunday, we packed up. We went to look at the prairie dogs before meeting Granny and Papa for lunch at Ann's. We were all exhausted upon arriving home. The shower was one of the best I remember, just as laying in my bed felt heavenly.

It was an absolutely wonderful birthday weekend! It's one the birthday boy will be able to enjoy talking about for another 60 years.

"Doggie trying to take the toy bone out of doggie door" Try finding this video on Purina Animal All Stars web site. It is cute. We thought Cameron would enjoy it.
