Our baby Lily turned two on Friday. How does time disappear? I remember SO VERY clearly Lily entering this world through much struggle. The relief and joy to finally hold her. The thankfulness for a beautiful, healthy little girl.
Her first year was a struggle with tummy problems, sensitivity to loud and/or busy places and a mommy that struggled with postpartum depression.
But we made it to ONE and, overall, Lily was a happy baby.
Her second year of life has been much smoother than her first. She has grown so much and changed even more. Lily talks all the time now, which has only recently changed. We are amazed at her ability to use pronouns correctly and her manners are better than most older kids. She likes to name things. Bren is "Bobby", my tablet is "Owl" and nursing is "Me". She refuses to say Cam but will call him "Blakey-Poo". This was a name Bren made up to pick on Cam but Cam seems to be okay with Lily calling him by this name.
Lily loves to read stories, she loves singing songs. Some of her favorite songs are "EIEIO", "Round and Round", "Oh my Soul" and "By Oh Baby". She loves wearing "Tutus" (any skirt or tutu) and is following in Cait's steps in her love to dance. She loves having her "Blue Baby" (named for it's blue eyes) with her every where she goes, especially at bed time. She also loves carrying things with her like purses/bags, money, play jewels, princess wands and a myriad of other items. Lily has found a love for her Gramma's Mardi Gras beads and thanks to the Dollar Tree, she has a nice collection of her own beads that she wears every day.
Lily is 26 pounds and 2' 9.5" tall. (For reference, Cait is 25, 3' .75" tall) She wears size 2T pants but most of the shirts, dresses and even PJs she shares 3Ts with her sister. That makes life a bit easier for momma.
Even though she is still nervous around people she doesn't know and a lot of men, Lily did a great job at the dentist recently. She was very nervous to sit in the chair at first, so much that she was visibly shaking! But the kind assistant did great with her and holding momma's hand she let the assistant and dentist polish her teeth and even take X-rays. It was confirmed that she DOES have an extra front tooth (momma knew it!) but the dentist wasn't concerned at this point.
We are so blessed daily by Lily's sweet smiles and "I love you's". She has a stubborn streak and a temper to go along with it but fortunately we don't see it very often. She would still love to nurse instead of eating but this past week, we have adjusted to only nursing twice a day, once before nap and once at bedtime. She has also been moved to her bed in a room with Cait and Cam. She still wakes every hour or two all night long but she is starting to fall back asleep easier and without complaint. I still hope for a full nights sleep some day soon!
Happy Birthday, Lily! We love you!
